I grew up in London. We played in the street, rode the tube, chased the pigeons. It was great. But nearly all my happiest memories involve a combination of: green space, fresh air, sand and water. Whether my siblings and I were hunting for brambles on Wimbledon Common, sleeping under canvas in the summer holidays or swinging on the tree in our back yard, joyful times were almost always outdoors.
Having recently moved to a smaller city with my two under 5s, surrounded by woods and hills where forest schooling and wild learning is huge, I wanted to draw on the incredible expertise on outdoor learning and fun and share info and inspiration in a way that’s useful for parents and carers everywhere: urban, suburban or otherwise.
